Unsure of where I'm heading

I can't make up my mind these days; it seems like it's all over the place, with a trillion ideas and things I'd like to do or think would be fun to make, refusing to settle on a single project. For months now, I've been planning to open an accessories shop: hair clips and headbands for little girls. I've made a bunch of hair clips, purchased hundreds of dollars worth of supplies, spent countless hours on my computer researching business ideas and models, looking at what other people do and comparing one with the other, trying somehow to find my place in the handmade world/business. My shop is practically set, I just have to let go of my fear and do it, click a button and launch my site. Something is stopping me and while I insist on it being perfect, my mind is also suggesting several other things that I could be creating.  Stopping by the bookstore this evening and looking through craft magazines and books has only made it worst. Now I'm thinking maybe I should make handbags. Crazy, right?
I want to create and I'd love to make a living doing something I enjoy. Somehow I feel that I won't be happy making several copies of the same item, I've discovered there's not much fun in that. But what if that's an excuse to not move forward, what if I'm feeding into my fears? Perhaps I'll love interacting with people and have them appreciate and buy things I do… I don't know, I don't know exactly where I want to go or do. I'm stuck.

Haircut gone bad

I did something terrible last night. I cut my baby's hair and did an awful job at it. It's so bad I almost cried and today I don't feel any better. Why? Why did I not think this through a bit more? I loved her long hair and although it was always in her face, I smiled every time she would push it back with her hands.
This is her after the cut, happy as always, without a clue of what mommy had just done to her. Luckily it'll grow out and all will be OK.

Tiny Dancer

I can't help but to share this video; it's just too cute. She hasn't figured out how to walk on her own yet, but she sure has the dancing part covered.

First Birthday

On Saturday we celebrated my Stella’s birthday. Everything went well considering the last minute rush to get everything finished on time. I didn’t get to do my hair but luckily enough our guests were late which gave us some extra time. It was a small gathering of family and close friends and the kids seem to have had a wonderful time, which was one of my main goals. The lack of organization and lighting didn’t allow for great pictures before the party but I was able to take a few.

I’d love to take more photos of her in her tutu but I doubt that she will let me dress her in it again (I did try).

She was wonderful. At times, she was not in the greatest mood but once she got over the new faces she felt comfortable and was able to stop clinging to me. She enjoyed her time with her uncles and aunts and looked beautiful in her pink and green tutu. For a moment, I was unsure of the tutu and thought of a dress as plan B but it worked out fine. Same with the headband, for once she didn't seem to mind hair accessory.

The cake balls came were a hit but more so the dipped marshmallows. It was my first try with the marshmallow and as for the cake balls, I did good in doing a trial the week before because otherwise they would  not have been ready for the party and I would've been quite disappointed.

I was so happy with my banner and how the table turned out. This was also my first time creating a banner so it was a big deal for me. There were a few things I wanted to include (like cupcakes and glass vases filled with candy and other goodies) but did not due to time. I now know that for the next party I need to plan way ahead instead of asking my aunt two days before to make me birthday cake because I could not book anyone to do so.
Another hit were the inflatable animals. I loved how excited the kids were when I told them to take one home.

One down and many, many more to come... Happy Birthday, love.
